The Glory of Supermarkets

I love supermarkets.

It’s definitely a break from the intense day of rushing… it’s a time when a trolley can slow down when the car can’t on a freeway.

I enter always welcomed by the warm smiles of the store greeters and clerks. And while my trolley’s two front wheels rattle with that somewhat deafening sound, I enter the adult’s biggest playground - the Walmart SuperCenter.

Okay, I know this sounds like a cheesy commercial. But my love for supermarkets has existed since my childhood. It’s the only place I visit with friends and family without fear of being forced onto a rollercoaster (yes, my terror in the 6 Flags park is enormous).

All the big life events happen here. The epiphanies, the encounters, the biggest decisions of which ingredients to choose for Thanksgiving. It’s a make or break moment for the holiday really.

We are currently gearing up for the summer foods... so this includes corn, tofu sausages, and of course the watermelons. Please meet the newest addition to my family from Walmart,

the Watermelon Baby:

Food options are endless! The freshness of vegetables breaths long life...my health conscience screams clean eating in the organic section.. the vibrancy of green, red, yellow bell-peppers; the deep greens of the collards; the tropical foods …all their colors just dance in my eyes.

Given my recent love for vegetarian food, I try my best to stay away from the deli section…it’s not nice to slice up animals. Let’s go with simple ingredients such as Bob’s Mill gluten free pizza dough, some fresh mozarella, basil leaves, and tomato sauce… we can stick it all in the oven and have the best Neapolitan pizza!

Speaking of dancing before, let’s not forget about the frozen aisle - it is the most happening place in the market! With great store music, comes great dancing:

My sister, Sonali, starts dancing... for Mom, it's a normal day :P

As you can see, supermarkets make my day. We just can’t say no to its music. We can’t say no to its food. We can’t say no to a good life. :D
